Making your own baby food
Hello my dear Mommies and helping Sisters!!! Making your own baby food is the best and easiest thing you can do for your child to make sure that there aren't any extra chemicals and GMO's in your baby's food. All you need is one or two good days so that you can cook and prep your baby's food. You can freeze it and store it for months in the freezer or you can refrigerate it for later in the week.
You all know it can be very expensive but yet convenient to go to Walmart and buy Gerber baby food, and the labels easily tell you what age that you could feed them to your baby. Below I will give you the age ranges, and certain foods that you can introduce for your LO.
Baby Cereals 4-6 Months
You can use these grains to make cereals for your baby. Use a food processor to grind these up into a four and store in containers or plastic bags. Do NOT pour into your baby's bottles to thicken the baby's milk. The reason being is that the grains are still raw when you grind them up yourself and therefore it needs to be cooked. The store bought cereals are cooked, dried, and then powdered so these are better to use in milk.- Rolled Oats
- Brown Rice
- White Rice
Baby Foods
4 Months- Avocados- Smash a ripe avocado and serve
- Bananas - Smash bananas with a fork and add a little breast milk
- Sweet Potatoes- Boil or bake. Smash and add breast milk
- Pears- Steam and puree. Make sure it is very ripe.
- Apple Sauce- Slice apples and boil until soft. Use a blender and puree then serve.
- Carrots- Slice carrots and boil until soft. Use a blender and puree then serve.
- Green Beans- Boil until soft. Use a blender and puree then serve.
- Zucchini- Slice zucchini and boil until soft. Use a blender and puree then serve.
- Broccoli- Cut into small pieces and boil until soft. Season then serve.
- Mangoes- Cut ripe mangoes into cubes and serve.
Storing Foods
When storing your purees you can use a couple of methods.- Refrigerate if you know you are going to use them that week.
- Freezing is a great way because it can last at least 3 months frozen. A good way to freeze purees is by pouring them into ice trays after they cool down. Once frozen, pop them out and store them into freezer bags. This is great and convenient because each cube is about 1oz of food and you can monitor how much your baby eats and take out exactly how much you need for each serving.
I hope this is a blessing for you guys. There are more foods you can puree or introduce to your baby but these are the ones I will be using. If you have any other ideas or methods please share with us!!
Don't forget to follow my blog and share!! Bless you all!!
