As many of us become more knowledgeable about the poisons in food, we make changes to our diet to avoid as many pesticides, genetically modified (GMO), high fructose corn syrup, saccharin, artificial flavors, etc. As we expand our knowledge of what we ingest into our bodies, we also must take into account of what we use externally.
Our skin is our largest organ; our bodies absorb many toxins from our environment. While we have no control over many aspects of our environment such as the air quality of the city and the type of soap in the dispenser of a restaurant’s restroom, ultimately the responsibility falls on us of not only what we ingest, but what we apply to our bodies externally as well as the reduction of toxins in our homes. Most of us and our families spend most of their day in the home whether we are sleeping, cooking, learning the Word together, etc.

Life with Myasthenia Gravis
Myasthenia Gravis an Autoimmune Disease
I know some of you all are wondering what in the world is myasthenia gravis? And am I pronouncing it right? (LOL) Myasthenia gravis is one of many autoimmune diseases but its very rare. This particular disease effects the receptors that transmit what you tell your body to do and it doesn't get to the brain because my body is attacking itself. It is very similar to lupus except there is no pain but all of my muscles become very weak and almost inactive. My First Green Smoothie!!
Trying this new eating healthy thing has really been a stumbling block for me because I like to throw down in the kitchen with all my calories and fats and cholesterol that will give me a heart attack! Hey, I'm just being honest. You know we can put some elbows and knee caps in some food, especially southern food which I had learned to make from scratch while pregnant with my second son two years ago. So yall already know we be eating good up in here! Anyhow, I do have an ongoing muscle disease that disagrees with that diet and I had just found out how horrible certain foods actually made me feel. How unfortunate that I learned how to cook everything that I love just to give it away to fruits, veggies and smoothies...smh! What a waste!

Breastfeeding: Three years and counting
I literally have been breastfeeding on and off since 2009. My first son was breastfed for just about 1year. He was bottle fed most of the time since I was going to school. My second son was conceived exactly after I stopped breastfeeding my first son and he was exclusively breastfed until he turned 5 months old. I didn't stop breastfeeding him until he was about 1 1/2 yrs. Needless to say after I stopped with him here came baby number 3 and of course she is being breastfed now also. Does anyone else see a pattern here?

Preparing for the Sabbath
As another blessed Sabbath rolls around I have to decide what we're going to eat for this day of rest. I try my best to switch up the meals every week so that we can still eat good and relax. At first it seemed challenging for me to stay out of the kitchen slaving over the stove and I didn't want to try to be overly righteous by not eating at all so I had to find a medium quickly. I have three children so going without eating isn't an option but with patience and a little more thought it has become very easy.

Thursday's Fruits of the Spirit; E and S pt.2
Encouragement & Strength pt.2
This week is the continuation of the Encouragement and Strength series. Over the next couple of weeks I will give precepts that will help us in our daily walk to stay encouraged and believing on the Most High that "errthang is gonna be alright!". We all have our own personal battles. If you need to be uplifted or know another sister or brother going through a hard time then these are some good ones to help them stand up and be strong. WE are a body and must help each other by all means so that we live together on one accord loving the Father through HIS son at all times.2/04/2013
30-minute meal: Spinach Fettuccine & Cheese sauce
Greetings my fellow hard working sisters and brothers! Today I will be sharing a really quick recipe that doesn't take much preparation or time in the kitchen. I call this one of those "Ain't nobody got time for that!" meals because after a long day I just want to eat good and catch the itis!
Usually I find inspiration by using whatever I have laying in the fridge, especially if it needs to be used before it goes bad. So this week we had some feta cheese and spinach that needed to be used up so that's where this recipe came from. I had just bought some fettuccine pasta the other day and I could make a quick sauce with the cheese to go on top so that's what we are going to have for dinner. I hope you all enjoy this recipe as much as me and my family did!

Giving and Receiving: Everything has a Season
How hard is it to give to someone in need or to give in general? Especially when you are always on guard since being in the world has taught you that if you give you are weak or it has taught you if you give you are always done wrong. No one ever appreciates what you have done or continue to do for them, you seem to always have someone taking advantage of you and using you for what you have. Then you see them disappear when you fall on hard times and you look around and there is no one there, well at least the people you assumed would be there is m-i-a after you have helped them out for so long.
